Tinker was a sweet lovable puppy. For me it was love at first sight, he was delightful. I found him by the rubbish bins scavenging, I was driving home from a friends. I have never in my life before seen so many ticks on one dog. The insides of his ears were smothered in them, it was horrific. But within 24 hours we had got rid of them.
He became best friends with Rags, they were roughly the same age. They played and played. After 10 days Tinker became very very sick and within 24 hours had died, despite ours and our vets best efforts. He had haemorrhagic gastroenteritis, a most ghastly disease, a form of parvovirus. Highly contagious.
We only had him for 10 days, but within those days he knew our love, Rags friendship, and what it was like never to be hungry. I’m sorry we couldn’t save you Tink 💔💔
The evening of the day he passed away, Rags was showing symptoms. This couldn’t be happening! But it was, it’s always a risk when you take an animal in, that it might be sick. Now we had to get Rags well, we couldn’t lose another one to this God awful disease.
