One Sunday in November 2005, I was walking through the market one morning, and spotted this huge puppy, with this extremely long tail, that almost touched the ground. He was so bewildered and lost. No more than 6 months old. He was an adorable dog. He followed me home and became one of the pack. He was soon to become the alpha dog, no one messed with Rusty. But he had a wonderful nature, he was such a gentleman.
He was an escapologist though, there was nothing he liked better than to scale our 6-foot wall and take himself off for a walk. He always came back, but only when he was ready to come home😩 He and Charlie became best friends. Most mornings the two of them took themselves off for a swim (we lived quite close to the sea then ) returning home when they’d had enough.
Rusty was an amazing dog, he was 15 years old when we had to say goodbye to him last month. That was a really good age for a dog so big. Whoever dumped Rusty in the market that day, certainly don’t know what they missed, you were a beautiful truly special boy Rusty.
