Reuben belonged to our neighbours. Back in January 2018, the neighbours came to Mino saying they thought there was something wrong with him because he was unable to move hardly at all. Mino took him to the vet and after an x-ray, it was discovered he had a broken pelvis. It was thought he had been hit by a car. We brought him back here to recuperate, and to give him his therapy. Poor little boy, he had never been inside a house before. He was so good, he loved it here. When his six weeks were up, and his medication was finished, Mino took him back home. Within an hour he was back outside our gate, crying to come in. This happened three times, so we decided he had made his choice and we kept him. He is adorable.
Nine months ago, Reuben developed a huge swelling on his side, it was an abscess, probably caused by a grass seed. He went to the vets four times with this problem, they eventually lanced it, and it started to heal, albeit very slowly. It was pretty much healed, and another one came up, he now had two horrible mucky abscesses.
Eventually, he had an operation, they opened him up, cleaned out the muck, removed what look liked a tiny slither of wood, maybe a thorn, and stitched him up. Poor little boy, he really didn’t deserve this. Reuben had to wear the Elizabethan collar for over three months, it took so long to heal. This has reoccurred four times now, we took him to a different vet last time, who found another piece of something there and removed it. He has healed quicker this time and is currently fine. We just hope that is the end of it, the final time, he has put up with such a lot.
Dear little Reuben, he is such a good boy 🐶🐾❤️
